Vote Leave campaign gathers support in Skegness

They set up a stall near Burger King in Lumley Road to talk to shoppers who may yet be undecided.

Hundreds of other ‘out’ groups were holding similar events in Grantham, Horncastle, Spalding and Boston and across the country.

Wearing the ‘GO (Grassroots Out )’ T-shirt along with other volunteers was Coun Susan Blackburn of Skegness. She said: “It went really well. We got rid of all of our leaflets and badges and pens and had to pack up at 2.30pm because we had nothing left.

“A lot of people came to speak to us and apart from about two, everyone said they would vote to come out.”

Still not sure how to vote was holidaymaker Joy March, who took a handful of leaflets to help her decide. She said: “My husband Mick just wants to come out but I still don’t know.

“I worry about what things will be like for my children and grandchildren.

“When we used to come here the field were full of food. Now it’s just rape seed or land going to waste. I believe we could be more self-sufficient.

“I know Britain could be ‘great’ again.”
