Mrs Harding hopes to raise £3,000, as well as raise awareness of this incurable and fatal neurological condition.

Margaret and her friends will be walking the 26-mile long Spires and Steeples trail from Lincoln to Sleaford.

They are undertaking this sponsored challenge because Margaret’s brother, Nigel, was diagnosed with the disease at the end of last year.

“Until Nigel was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease I had very little knowledge or even awareness of MND,” said Margaret. “Since his diagnosis I have learned that it is a cruel, wretched condition, for which there is no known cure and very little treatment.

“Along with friends and family, we want to raise this money to fund research into the cause and possible treatment of this disease, so that in the future fewer people will have to suffer as my brother is doing.”
