Warning to take care in hot weather as fire crews called to grass verge blaze

People are being warned to take care in these extra hot, dry conditions as Sleaford firefighters were called to a grass verge on fire this morning (Tuesday) at Ruskington.

They attended Westcliffe Road in the village just before 11am to put out the grass verge on fire, said to have started from carelessly discarded smoking materials.

With temperatures topping 40, a fire service spokesman said: “We’ve seen a number of field fires in recent weeks so when you’re outside please be extra careful in these hot dry conditions.”
