Residents of all ages in Metheringham have been inspired to become more active and take up creative pursuits as part of a wellbeing event.

Organised by ArtsNK, the free NK Wellbeing Day saw about 70 visitors enjoy craft and physical activities while learning all about health opportunities in their area.

The day followed on from a number of similar events held last summer and autumn, organised by the Partnership NK “our communities” group working with 1Life.

A spokesman for ArtsNK said the event was a great success and enjoyed by people of all ages: “Many residents and visitors enjoyed these events and the Partnership NK “our communities” team is keeping these great days going in 2016, but with the added benefit of other groups getting involved to give visitors a wider offer of experiences and advice. At the Metheringham event children enjoyed outdoor activities with a climbing wall provided by NK Outreach, while the more adventurous learned to use an aerial training hoop with the artsNK Dance Team. Crafts sessions encouraged people to use collage and other techniques to put their own designs onto photographs of local buildings, while people of all ages enjoyed an exercise to music demonstration from Vitality, who provide classes for the over 60s in the area.”

Visitors to the event were also able to find out more about a range of groups and activities in the area such as NK Social Strollers, as well as upcoming events including North Kesteven Walking Festival, and the Spires and Steeples Challenge.

The next wellbeing day will be held at the newly-refurbished One NK centre in North Hykeham during half term on Friday, June 3, from 12-4pm. Further events will take place in Cranwell, Washingborough, Brant Broughton and Bracebridge Heath.

Partners involved in the Wellbeing days include: NK Arts Partnership, NKOutreach, Vitality, Lincolnshire Advice Network, NKDC Health Trainers, Environmental Health and Wellbeing Service, NK Social Strollers, and the Volunteer Centre services.
