David Moulds, and his wife Michaela, are taking part in the race to raise money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

The marathon, on April 24, will be David’s fifth and Michaela’s fourth - over the years they have raised £5,000 for charities including St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice, Children with Cancer UK, and North West Cancer Research.

David, who will turn 51 the day after the marathon, has completed seven years of service in the RAF and is now a civilian aircraft engineer.

He said: “After much deliberation on a costume we finally agreed on a giant poppy which we think will gain massive support in London and as ever put a smile on people’s faces. I haven’t quite worked out how I will run 26 miles in this costume, it will be a real challenge. However I will be doing a test run the week before when I will run the Lincoln 10k in it.”
