We're absolutely frightening! Ashley Jackson calls on Boston United to hit top form as they prepare for vital four-game run in space of 10 days

The Pilgrims face a testing final three matches of 2018.

Saturday’s clash at Brewery Field will be followed by the visits of Alfreton Town on Boxing Day and title-chasing Bradford Park Avenue three days later.

But Jackson believes United are by no meas out of the promotion race themselves, calling on his teammates to put Saturday’s FA Trophy disappointment at National League Wrexham behind them.

“With the squad we’ve got, and when we’re ticking, we’re absolutely frightening,” he told The Standard.

“Fingers crossed we can get that going again.

“We’ve started to click and show that little bit of chemistry that we haven’t seen previously.”

Fifth-placed Spennymoor sit four points ahead of the Pilgrims in the table, and Boston will be keen to close that gap and avenge their 2-0 home defeat in August, a game Jackson missed due to suspension.

“They’re a good team,” he added. “They beat Alfreton 7-1 last weekend so they’ve got goals in them.

“We need to tighten up and start afresh, get this (Wrexham defeat) off our minds and focus on winning again.”

Looking at the bigger picture, the left back believes United are entering a vital stage of the season as, including New Year’s Day’s visit to Alfreton, they will play four matches in the space of 10 days – something Jackson is relishing.

He said: “We’re going to see where we are after those four games – tough opponents who are trying to get right up there.

“We want to make sure we’re in the same position as them.

“Games come thick and fast but I enjoy it. I enjoy games coming one after the other like that as you can build momentum or rectify mistakes.

“It’s always the same for me (over Christmas): try to keep as professional as anything.”

Saturday’s match and Boxing Day’s arrival of Alfreton will both kick off at 3pm.
