Why Daniel is readyto climb the heights

A local scout has launched a fundraising drive for the trip of a lifetime.

And 16-year-old Daniel Hayes really will be going up in the world as part of the challenge.

The teenager is an Explorer Scout currently undertaking his silver award as part of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

He has the opportunity to go to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland.

Daniel has been selected along with 20 other Explorer Scouts from throughout Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.

While in Switzerland, he will participate in various scouting skills and have the chance to meet other enthusiats from all over the 
world.

As part of his bid to raise funds, Daniel will be taking part in a sponsored ‘climb’ at the Showroom, Lincoln on Saturday (January 16),

He will be attempting to climb the equivalent height of Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon - a daunting challenge otherwise known as the ‘Three Peaks’ and featuring the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales.

Daniel has also arranged another, slightly less demanding, event to boost his final total. He will be holding a cake sale at One Stop store in The Bull Ring, Horncastle, on Saturday, February 6, from 10am-2pm.

There will be a selection of cakes, biscuits and special Valentine’s Day gifts, along with a raffle with a variety of prizes, including a chocolate finger cake made by One Stop manager Sadie.
