WIN! Dinner for two and an overnight stay

On a rainy summer evening, the stylish lobby at the Holiday Inn Nottingham Sherwood Park was a welcome sight.

Within minutes of arriving we were checked in and settled into our room. Decorated in rich colours there was a comfy double bed, leather armchair, writing desk, flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

The striking bathroom was kitted out with a huge shower along with complementary toiletries and bathrobes.

Each of the hotel’s 92 spacious bedrooms has been designed to offer uncompromised luxury.

After settling in we headed down to the Dakota Bar and Grill for our dinner reservation, and were quickly seated at a spacious table in the cosy restaurant.

Intensely proud of its simple and locally-sourced seasonal menu, which uses the very best produce from the British Isles, the restaurant opens to the public as well as residents for lunch and dinner.

We placed our drinks order and enjoyed some fresh bread and olive oil while we made our choices from the impressive menu.

After much discussion I went for the smoked salmon to start, followed by the 28 day aged rib eye steak, while my husband opted for creamy mushrooms on toast followed by sea bass with risotto.

The menu and the setting had given us high hopes - and when the food arrived we were not disappointed.

My generous portion of smoked salmon was divine, and the mushrooms on toast were creamy, rich and flavoursome.

The main courses continued to impress. The steak was a perfect medium rare as requested and came with crisp chips, grilled mushroom, tomato and watercress. The sea bass was again expertly cooked and the risotto creamy.

Despite being quite full already, the choice of deserts proved too tempting to pass by. The cherry and almond pie with clotted cream was a lovely balance of sharpness and sweet, while the Bailey’s creme brulee was a delight.

A malt whiskey in the lounge bar was the perfect end to a fantastic meal. If you are looking for good food in a modern and cosy setting, then the Dakota Bar and Grill is for you.

And the Guardian has teamed up with the Dakota to offer one lucky reader a three-course dinner for two (excluding drinks) and an overnight stay.

To be in with a chance of winning, simply answer the following question. How many bedrooms does the hotel have?
