WIN! Flights to Poland

hungarian airline Wizz Air offers up to 18 flights a week to Poland from Robin Hood Airport - and we have two free tickets to be won!

We have teamed up with Wizz Air to offer one lucky reader the chance to fly to a choice of five Polish cities.

It was in September 2006 that the recently-opened Robin Hood Airport launched its first Wizz Air flight to Poland.

Its destination was the big industrial city of Katowice.

The flight was introduced in response to the increasing number of Polish migrants moving into the area.

Five years later demand has increased so much that there are now 18 flights to Poland every week in the summer and 15 in the winter.

The number of Polish destinations has increased as well, with flights now available to Gdansk, Warsaw, Poznan and Wroclaw, as well as Katowice.

Robin Hood aviation development manager Chris Harcombe said: “There are two to four flights per week to each destination.”

“We have around 250,000 passengers a year on our flights to Poland.”

“They are used not just by migrant workers, but also by British business people who have connections in Poland, and also for leisure.”

People are going on weekend city breaks to cities like Warsaw because they are good value for money.”

Mr Harcombe said Katowice was chosen as the first destination because it was an alternative gateway to Krakow which was where a lot of the first migrant workers came from. All the Polish flights are operated by Hungarian airline Wizz Air.
