Wind farm contributes £43m to economy

Tens of millions of pounds have been contributed to the UK economy thanks to the new Keadby wind farm, according to a new report.

An independent study, conducted by professional services firm PwC, and released this week, has found that energy company SSE in total contributed £27bn to the GDP over the past three years.

In it the economic impact of the Keadby wind farm – a 34 turbine, 68MW onshore wind farm - was assessed. It claims that not only does the wind farm power over 38,000 houses but contributed an estimated £43.3m to the economy and provided the equivalent of 720 person years of employment during the construction phase.
