Witness appeal after Friday quad bike crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a Gateford man was seriously hurt in a quad bike crash near Worksop.

Two quad bikers were hurt in the incident at 4.15pm on Friday 16th September on the A57 Worksop Road, at Lindrick Common, close to Lindrick Golf Club.

A blue Yamaha quad bike was travelling behind a yellow Suzuki quad bike in the direction of the M1.

It is thought the front vehicle lost power and slowed, causing the Yamaha to take evasive action.

There was a glancing blow between the vehicles and the Yamaha left the road to the offside, crossed a small grass verge and struck a tree.

Both riders were wearing protective equipment, including helmets.

But the Yamaha rider, a man in his mid-forties from the Gateford area, suffered broken ribs and was taken to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital.

The Suzuki rider, a 38-year-old man from New Rossington, Doncaster, escaped with slight cuts and bruises and was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital.

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to contact 0114 2202020 and quote incident number 841 of 16th September 2011.
