Woman, 20, loses fight for life following collision near Skegness

The family of a 20-year-old woman who lost her fight for life eight days after suffering serious injuries in a head-on collision near Skegness have paid tribute to their 'baby girl''.

Hope Starsmore was driving a Toyota Yaris when it was in a collision with a Ford Focus on the A158 at Burgh le Marsh on October 7.

Her brother and her partner had been travelling with her on their way to Nottingham Trent University and received minor injuries.

Police revealed the sad news that Hope had died with her parents by her side on Friday evening.

A statement reads: "We have been asked to pass the following on from Hope's family.

"After eight days of fighting Hope has sadly died from her injuries in hospital, with her parents at her side.

"She will be missed dearly and was loved by so many.

"Rest in peace baby girl.

"We would like to thank everyone for their support and ask that our privacy is respected at this time to allow us to grieve as a family."

Following the accident, Hope was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary, where she was placed into a medically-induced coma. A friend set up a fundraiser to help support Hope and her family

Lincolnshire Police say a 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit to do so and was later released under investigation.

Police have been appealing for witnesses to the accident.

A spokesman said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this collision and in particular a van which we believe was travelling behind a Toyota truck which was indicating right to turn in to the layby on Skegness Road around the time of the collision.

"We would also appeal for anyone with dashcam footage to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 62 of October 7.
