Woman rescued from car after driving into drain near Boston

Firefighters rescued a woman who was trapped after her car left the road and went into a drain near Boston last night.

The Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service fire boat was raced to the scene mobilised after the car went into a drain.

The incident happened on the Boston Road at Cowbridge at just after 8 pm last night.

The woman got out through a broken windscreen as the car was submerged in the water.

She was treated at the scene by a team from the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said: “We were called out at 20.10 to a Hyundai that had entered a drain on Boston Road, Cowbridge.

“Crews from Boston and Leverton and the swift water rescue team used a four metre boat to rescue one female casualty through the broken winscreen of the car submerged in water.

“She was left in the care of the ambulance service.”
