Woman suffers vicious attack in robbery at caravan in Ingoldmells

A woman in her sixties was left frightened and needing surgery after she was robbed at her caravan in Ingoldmells.

Dorothy Butterworth, 69, was holidaying with her husband, Walter, at The Grange Holiday Park and had opened the caravan door to let in some air.

When they went to close the door in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the robber forced his way in, stealing more than £300 in cash, a gold watch and bank cards.

The incident took place on Wednesday and Mrs Butterworth suffered a torn ligament and extensive bruising to her face and legs in the attack.

She told the BBC: "I am having flashbacks and when I see doors I keep imagine the lad running through."

Mrs Butterworth, from Pudsey, West Yorkshire, said: "He got hold of my shoulder and pushed me.

"I've been told I could have blanked out because I didn't feel it until I tried to move and then I was screaming with the pain it was that bad."

Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that investigations are continuing.

A spokesman said: "It was reported that a man, around 6ft tall, and wearing dark clothing entered a caravan and took a woman’s handbag before leaving.

"On entering the van he knocked the victim, in her 60s, down causing her injuries.

"The handbag contained more than £300 in cash, a gold watch and bank cards."
