Wonderful world of books brought to life by children

The tots all turned up dressed as some of their favourite characters from the world of fiction.

The event was to mark World Book Day. Now in its 15th year, it brings children of all ages together to appreciate reading.

The main aim of World Book Day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own.

To mark the day millions of book vouchers are sent to children and young people, which can be exchanged for one of eight exclusive books.

On the day the children not only got the chance to dress up as their heroes, but they also enjoyed a day of book related fun and games.
