Woodhall Spa care home get green light to extend

Potential new owners of a Woodhall Spa care home have secured permission to extend it.

East Lindsey District councillors approved an application by prospective purchaser Mr R Renfrew to build a communal dining area at Heatherlea House which currently has 17 residents and employs 14 full-time and three part-time staff.

The council’s planning committee voted overwhelmingly in favour of the application for the property which is located at the junction of Tor O Moor Road and Kirkby Lane despite an objection from a neighbour that it would cause loss of light to his property.

To minimise the potential for noise or smell nuisance, conditions were imposed that there should be no vents or extractor fans and that the roof of the extension should be of sedum - a blend of grass and windflowers.
