The Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School student won seven gold medals – and set five world records – in the 2015 World Transplant Games.

He struck gold again in the recent European Games in Finland and plans to compete in the World Games again next year, provided they don’t clash with his A-levels.

Declan, pictured with QEGS head Heather Payne, was seven when he was diagnosed with chronic renal failure. He needed a kidney transplant from his father, Guy, at the age of 10.
