Pupils at the school had been working on a project to improve their art skills and the exhibition was a chance for their parents to see the result of their hard work.

Children from foundation up to year six all had their artwork on display.

Lucy Brindley, year three teacher and the school’s art co-ordinator, said each class had a picture by a famous artist which they used to inspire them.

“It was about developing their basic skills and seeing how these skills developed through the year groups,” she added.

“It was skills like mixing the correct colours, mixing thick enough paint and holding their brush correctly.”

The artwork was on display for three days in the school hall for pupils to show to their family.

Some of the work will be framed and put up around the school, others are due to be used in a calendar and the remainder will go on display in the homes of pupils.

Ms Brindley thanked the Dinnington and District Art Society for donating the display boards for the exhibition.
