“All customers are back on water thanks to the steps taken by our team yesterday. We now need to repair the pipe itself and return things to normal.

“The pipe is very deep underground though and there is a nearby brick wall which needs removing and lots of other utility pipes and cables running under the road which we need to carefully navigate, so unfortunately we will need to work through the weekend and into next week. This means one lane on the southbound carriageway will remain closed.

“Lincolnshire Highways Agency is fully aware of the work and we’d like to say thank you in advance to customers and road users in the area for their patience.”

Drivers were left with huge delays due to roadworks during this mornings rush hour with people saying they had taken between 40 minutes to an hour to get from one side of town to the other.

Other utilities work is taking place on Sleaford Road, Boston, which Anglian Water say is not related to their activities.
