Work starts on new play park in Skegness

The new play park, which includes a pirate’s ship at its centrepiece and zip-wire, will replace the existing wooden equipment.

Throughout September residents in Skegness were invited to have their say on what they wanted from the new play park – with many saying they most enjoyed sliding, swinging and climbing.

As well as a vibrant new safety surface, pirate ship and zip-wire, the new park also includes play equipment specifically designed for young people with special needs.

Couns Steve Kirk, Susan Blackburn and Dick Edginton gathered in Tower Gardens for the start of the work.

Coun Adam Grist, portfolio holder with responsibility for play parks at East Lindsey District Council, said: “I am pleased work has commenced on this exciting project that once completed will bring smiles to the faces of many families.

“I would like to again thank all those who took part in the consultation to influence the type of equipment that is to be installed.

“Play is an important experience for all young people and I hope to see the new park well used.”
