Work starts on Quadrant development

The roundabout will form the entrance to the development which consists of a new community football stadium for Boston United, 500 houses, plus businesses and infrastructure.

It will also include a new Toucan signalised crossing on the Boston side.

Lincolnshire County Council Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways and transport said, “The county council recognises that the Quadrant is a significant new development for Boston which will bring many benefits to the community.

“We’ve been working with Chestnut Homes to ensure that disruption for road users is kept to a minimum, while enabling their contractors to proceed with the works.”

The authority has confirmed a footpath closure will be in place from May 16 on the west side of the A16 between Tytton Lane East and the Causeway.

A layby is closed on the west side of the A16 to provide access for the contractors.

A temporary speed restriction of 30mph will be in place on the A16 for the duration of the works.

No further traffic restrictions are expected until early September, when temporary lights will be required for approximately two weeks, to allow for works on the carriageway.

Following this, the council will be carrying out some weekend overnight closures to complete the road surfacing and markings.

Building is expected to last until mid-October, and will eventually include a new distributor road to link the A16 with the B1397 London Road.
