Working tax credit change to hit 360 Bassetlaw families

AROUND 360 Bassetlaw couples with children are set to lose around £4,000 a year unless they work significantly longer hours, new figures show.

A new change to tax credit rules means families will lose all of their working tax credits affect up to 695 children in the district, according to an analysis of Government figures by Labour.

From April, couples with children earning less than £17,700 will need to increase the number of hours from a minimum of 16 to 24 hours a week or they will lose all their working tax credit of up to £3,870 a year.
