Staged to coincide with an exhibition of Sir Peter Blake’s World Series of original collages inspired by journeys real and imagined, the workshops will focus on aesthetic awareness in relation to colour, texture, pattern, shape and structure and explore what a collage is.

Children will experiment with different surfaces and create their own Peter Blake inspired collage, which can be taken home.

Suitable for Key Stage One and Two children, the free workshops will take place on May 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19 from 10am to 2pm each day.

Dayle Green, education and engagement manager at the Harley Gallery, said: Our primary education workshops are an exciting opportunity for children to delve into the world of art and develop their own tastes and judgements, inspired by influential artist Sir Peter Blake.

“These workshops are completely free of charge and with limited places available we’re encouraging schools to sign up before spaces fill up.”

Sir Peter Blake is renowned for his collages and is probably best known as the creator of the iconic Beatles album cover for Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
