The tenant, Chantelle Dainty, lived in a one-bedroomed flat on Garside Street that is surrounded by bungalows and two other blocks of flats.

She had been the subject of numerous complaints from many residents.

Some of these included loud music and parties that would lead to fellow residents, many of them elderly, being subjected to abusive language, intrusive noise and behaviour from people leaving the flat.

In addition, the neighbourhood was littered with hypodermic syringes, alcohol bottles and cans and general rubbish.

Nearby properties and the block of flats had also been subjected to vandalism and criminal damage.

Bernard Coleman, managing director at A1 Housing, said the incidents had caused great distress to other residents. “The irresponsible and inconsiderate actions of Miss Dainty have heavily impacted on the lives of local residents and caused great anxiety and also made elderly people fear for their safety in their own homes,” he said.

The closure notice was granted at Worksop Magistrates Court on 11th April and will remain in place for three months. It was secured by A1 Housing and Bassetlaw Council’s joint anti-social behaviour team working with police.
