Worksop: Archive images of Eastgate and Lowtown Street covered in snow

Snow has already fallen twice in 2015 in Worksop and more is expected - so the Guardian has decided to dig out archive images of winter scenes from the past.

Pictured are shoppers in the Co-op car park at Eastgate in Worksop during the snow in the 1990s and of Lowtown Street, Worksop, 1946-1947.

Also pictured is St Swithin’s Church, Churchgate, East Retford, pictured in December 1906. The church was built in the 13th Century.

Coun John Knight, committee chairman for culture at Notts County Council, said: “These images provide a fascinating insight into life in the county during winter in the past where landscapes and landmarks were covered in snow. These photographs and more which are in our archives, capture these winter scenes.”
