Worksop armed robbers jailed for 17 years after £320,000 jewellery raid

THREE armed robbers from Worksop have been jailed for a total of 17 years.

Doncaster Crown Court heard how the trio fled with £320,000 of jewellery after they tied up a shop worker and threatened her with a knife in Bentley, Doncaster, earlier this year.

It was around 9am on 23rd February that police officers were called to Sopers Jewellers on Arksey Lane in Bentley.

The store manager had arrived at work after being given a lift to work by her husband.

After she went inside, her husband heard a commotion and realised something was wrong. He quickly called 999.

When they arrived officers found the store manager, a 67-year-old Doncaster woman, had been tied up, threatened with a knife and forced to open the safe.

Three men were seen fleeing the shop through a hole they had cut in the roof.

But a short time later they were found by police and the stolen jewellery was recovered.

Graham Gallom, 25, was sentenced to six years in prison.

And Adam Marvell, 27, and Robert Marvell, 31, were each sentenced to five-and-a-half-years.

Det Supt Maggie Hawksworth said: “South Yorkshire Police acted quickly in order to ensure that the offenders were apprehended and the stolen property was recovered.”

“We are pleased that the offenders have received custodial sentences as this was a traumatic experience for the victim. I hope that closure for the family can now be gained.”
