Worksop: ASBO given to known street drinker

Worksop resident Darren Morley has been issued with an Anti Social Behaviour Order and he is now barred from the town centre other than for pre-arranged appointments with the Job Centre, his solicitor, probation or to collect his benefits.

In addition, Morley is also prohibited from being in possession of an unsealed container of alcohol, begging or encourage or incite others to do so, urinating in the street, exposing his genitals in public and associating with Daniel Wilson, Christopher Morris, Matthew Morris, Sheldon Price, Andrew Price and Gary Perkins in a public place.

Should Darren Morley breach this order he will commit an offence and may be fined or sent to prison for up to five years.

District Judge Baker granted a full ASBO running for two years until 11 November 2015.

Gerald Connor, Community Safety Co-ordinator at Bassetlaw Council, said: “This is the third ASBO granted against well known street drinkers in the Worksop area and we will continue to work with the police and other agencies to crack down on anti social behaviours in our town centres.”

Coun Julie Leigh, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw Council, said: “Our message to those looking to cause trouble, nuisance and harassment is quite simple, ‘You are not welcome here.’”

“I hope this sends a clear message that the council and the residents of Bassetlaw will not tolerate anti social behaviour.”
