Worksop: British Legion branch stalwarts retire after years of service

Brian and Shirley Madden have retired as chairman and secretary respectively of the Worksop branch of the Royal British Legion.

Both Shirley and Brian retired from their posts at the annual general meeting and they were presented with gifts by branch president Brigadier Brown.

The pair will remain as active members of the Worksop branch and Brian will continue to be the standard bearer.

“The Worksop Branch of the Legion would like to thank Brian and Shirley Madden for their long services,” said new branch secretary Ray Fielding.

“Their service has been outstanding, making a huge contribution to the organisation.”

“Brian has very much been the public image of the Legion, being its standard bearer, and is a very well known part of our community.”

“As the branch moves forward it is important to recognise the huge contribution that has been made over the years.”
