Jamie Kettle, 27, of Lanchester Gardens and younger sibling Joshua, 23, of Featherstone Avenue, hopped onto a stolen Honda NSR125R on 13th March and caused serious damage to garden fencing at a house on Mary Street when the brakes failed.

The court heard how the brothers did not steal the bike but knew that it had been taken without conscent by two other men when they came across the bike.

Jamie now has oxygen equipment at home to help him breathe and Joshua needs two more operations on his knee.

They both received a 14-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months.

They were also ordered to pay £200 compensation each and Joshua was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
