Worksop: Calum is the top apprentice once again

A local apprentice bench joiner has won the East Midlands’ heat of a national skills competition for the second year in a row.

Calum Scott, 26, is an apprentice joiner with the National Trust, based at Clumber Park, and is completing his qualifications through North Nottinghamshire College in Worksop.

He won the college over-20s learner category for the region in the competition, organised by the Worshipful Company of Carpenters and the Institute of Carpenters, with his entry of a pub sign and hanging bracket.

He was entered for the competition by the college where he attends on day release to complete carpentry qualifications as part of his apprenticeship.

He is in the final part of a three-year apprenticeship at the National Trust, working as part of the team who carry out a wide range of renovation, restoration and maintenance projects at all the organisation’s East Midlands properties.
