Worksop: Celebrity chef Mark Lloyd cooks up a treat at Autism Enterprise Hub

The centre on Raines Avenue, supports young people and adults with autism to develop skills and experience for the workplace.

And Mark, former head chef at River Cottage, supported the hub’s service users by sharing his knowledge and cooking skills on Thursday 14th May.

A keen forager and an advocate of ‘nose-to-tail’ cooking, Mark has also helped another of Autism East Midlands’ services develop a small kitchen garden, as well as teaching cookery skills to groups.

Mark said: “There’s no set recipe for helping someone affected by autism. Autism touches the lives of 2.7 million people every day. I am delighted to add my support to the Connect to Autism campaign to make venues in the East Midlands more accessible to people affected by autism.”

After the event, Sue Pearce tweeted: “Had a great cooking session with Mark Lloyd! Top guy funny and a great cook! East Midlands Autism put on a lovely evening.”

And Sheila Watson said on Twitter: “It was a fabulous evening for a great cause.”

Autism East Midlands is a member of the Autism Alliance, which recently launched its Connect to Autism campaign. The aim of the campaign is to improve awareness and understanding of autism in the community and to encourage venues and businesses to be autism-friendly.
