Residents were invited to Gateford Park Primary School to view the plans for 670 new homes, a primary school and a park which are currently in the pipeline.

Following this consultation the developers, Lands Improvement, will submit a planning application and then if planning is granted building work could start in 2015.

The main concern for residents is that the plans do not include anymore roads to accommodate for the extra houses and school.

Nick Sapsford said: “I understand the need for housing but my problem is regards to the traffic.”

Traffic coming in and out of Gateford Road can be very heavy.”

“It is something that needs to be looked at.”

“They are looking at putting in traffic lights but I am not convinced that is going to help the situation.”

“It is nice to see a school and community areas.”

Residents who were at the consultation were invited to complete feedback forms which will be collated and taken into consideration during the next stage of the application.

Land Improvements managing director, Kevin Moriarty, said: “We need to find out what the problems are and see if they are things we can incorporate into the scheme.”

“We have to make sure it’s right.”
