Worksop: Creswell are top choir once again

Creswell Junior School Choir have been voted Best Choir in the District at the Bolsover School Choir Festival for the second time in five years.

The school had not taken part in the event, which was held at Heritage High School, since their triumph back in 2008, but showed they had lost none of the ability as they peformed the Mamas and the Papas classic California Dreamin’ and One Hundred Years, which was composed by their leader and deputy headmaster Peter Lack.

“Both these songs allowed our choir to showcase their multi-layered vocal skill with the former demonstrating two-part harmony singing, and the latter showing off their ability to sing in up to four parts simultaneously, weaving a range of melody lines in counterpoint,” said Mr Lack.

“It was a huge privilege to perform with them and they were rewarded, once again, with the title of Best Choir in the District. We hope to be involved again next year where we can hopefully replicate our success.”
