Worksop: Donation helps Bassetlaw Hospital to buy new blood test equipment

Patients attending the Emergency Department at Bassetlaw Hospital are set to benefit following a generous donation of £800 to purchase new equipment that tests the blood of patients on Warfarin.

The International Normalised Ratio (INR) blood testing machine will enable staff to provide instant blood tests for patients with blood clotting problems who need regular adjustment of their Warfarin prescriptions.

When Chris and Andrea Mallinson, of C and AM Associates, heard the Emergency Department were fundraising to purchase an INR machine they didn’t hesitate to complete the fundraise by donating the balance of £800.00.

Andrea, a former volunteer at Bassetlaw Hospital, said the company were delighted to help Bassetlaw Hospital to purchase this machine.

“The purchase of this INR machine will give patients with blood clotting problems instant results and also save them time, as previously they would have to wait for their results from our laboratories.”

Warfarin slows the production of vitamin K in the body, which increases the time it takes for your blood to clot.
