Working alongside contractors with mechanical diggers, crews from across Notts are now removing the burning waste to an open space within the site, where they are extinguishing it fully.
Station manager, Dick Dawson, said: “The building has a steel roof and the fire has left a bow in it so there is a concern for structural safety.”
“We are in consultation with the environment agency to make sure they are happy with where the water is going.”
“We are doing our best to put it out.”
Residents who live near the centre are still being advised to keep their doors and windows closed.
