“There are no plans to close Worksop Police Station at the moment,” he said.

“But let’s be straight about it, the police station is too big for the needs of the police at the moment.”

“So we are looking at a more modern building in Worksop but there will always be a police station in Worksop.”

“What I am keen to do, what the police are keen to do, is to have a police station that works alongside other public services.“

Mr Tipping told the Guardian that preliminary talks have taken place with local authorities about providing a more efficient public service.

He added: “There are no plans to close it now but in the future we my have a new model because the fire services in Worksop are also in need of a new facility too.”

“I can’t see anything happening in this financial year.”
