Worksop: Hodthorpe Primary School transformed into a jungle

Creative pupils at a Worksop school have spent a whole week transforming it into a jungle.

Children at Hodthorpe Primary School created animal artwork to turn their school hall into a jungle scene full of tigers, giraffes, flamingos and baboons.

The project was based on their trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and they were helped by Sheffield artist Peter Baldry.

Students were provided with large pieces of cardboard, which they used to create and paint animals and their habitats.

Chloe, a year five pupil at the school, said: “I loved the painting and I loved getting messy.”

Head teacher Mrs Chaplin was very pleased with the week, she said: “I think it has provided a unique opportunity for the children to work with a real artist and provide work relating to the wildlife project on an unimaginable scale.

“The results are truly impressive and have to be seen to be believed.”
