Worksop: Homeless charity are expanding its services thanks to £10,000 grant

The charity, based in Bassetlaw, is among the first to be awarded one of the Foundation’s new ‘Enable’ grants, and will use the £10,750 to extend the services they offer to people in the most rural and remote parts of the county.

With the help of the grant, Hope Community Services will be able to send their crisis team further afield rather than waiting for homeless people to come to them.

As the charity learns more about the problems facing those currently out of reach, they hope to create better channels of communication with homeless people in the rural community and also to work alongside the local district council to ensure that their needs are better met.

The Charity’s CEO, Alan Diggles, said: ‘The grant will allow us to get a better insight into the problems in more remote parts of Notts.”

“When we know more about what’s needed we will be able to make a difference to the lives of people that are currently isolated just because they can’t get to our centre.”

Lloyds Bank Foundation’s ‘Enable’ grants were created to help charities develop and become more robust at a time when their futures are often jeopardised by reduced funding streams.

The Foundation has allocated spending for 160 additional grants to the value of £2.5m and is encouraging more applications from charities across England and Wales.

‘Enable’ grants are being awarded to fund charities’ developments in areas such as strategic planning, leadership and governance, management systems, communications, or activities and services.

Funds are available to charities with an income between £25,000 and £1m and a clear developmental need.
