The non-political community-based campaign group has been formed with the sole aim of stopping the building of a proposed waste incinerator down at the old recycling centre on Shireoaks Road in Worksop, due to concerns on the effects on human health and the food chain, as well as the environment, local wildlife and local businesses,

Items discussed were the recent issues with the group campaigning in Worksop market, Trax FM featuring the group’s story on one of their programmes and inviting Bassetlaw MP John Mann to a future meeting.

It was noted that the department of health’s is considering extending the range within which health problems occur in the area of existing waste incinerators, such as Sheffield and Eastcroft, from 10km to 15km.

The group’s next meeting will be on Thursday, 5th June at Rhodesia Village Hall at 7.30pm.

The group is also hoping to have a stall at the Shireoaks Carnival on Saturday, 28th June.
