Worksop: Man admits stealing wallet, coat and laptop from car after smashing the back window

A Rhodesia man has pleaded guilty at Worksop Magistrates’ Court to stealing cash and a £300 laptop from a parked car.

Peter Downs, 40, of Winifried Street, admitted smashing the back window of the car, belonging to Jonathan Higginbottom, while it was parked on Norfolk Street in Worksop and taking a wallet containing £125 in cash and bank cards, as well as an Asus Notebook computer and a black coat worth £180.

The coat was later recovered while the wallet was later posted through Mr Higginbottom’s front door with the bank cards still there but the money gone.

Sentencing was adjourned until 15th May while a probation report is prepared.
