Miroslaw Padol, 36, admitted sexual contact with the teenager when she was aged between 16 and 17.

But he was cleared of more serious charges of rape and sexual assault following a four-day trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

A jury were out for nearly six hours before finding him not guilty on Friday of three counts of rape last year and three of sexual assault.

Padol, of Hereford Close, who had the help of a Polish interpreter in court, denied the six charges.

But the jury were told that he had already pleaded guilty to the two charges of sexual contact with the girl.

Padol. who has worked as a builder, said he was ashamed of his sexual activity with the girl.

But he denied putting pressure on her, or threatening her, with a view to having full sex.

The jury found him not guilty on the six counts he faced.

He was jailed for 10 months for the offences he had admitted.
