Worksop: new bar to open its doors

The Duck and Dive Real Ale Bar which will be located at the Anchor Inn in Eastgate is set to give lovers of cask beer a mouth-watering experience and will feature a selection of real ales that will be changed regularly, supporting local, regional and national microbreweries.

Permanent cider will be on draught, continental bottled fruit beers will be on sale as well as a range of wines.

The Duck and Dive Real Ale Bar is the brainchild of Phil Owen and Phil Longley of Dukeries Brewery and Mark and Angela Rawlins, from the Anchor Inn.

Mr Owen said: “We set up the Dukeries Brewery in October last year and we already distribute our beers to many pubs across the local region as well as further afield. We’ve been looking for a local venue to not only showcase our own range of ales, but also the fantastic variety of beers that are now being brewed by over 1,000 microbreweries.”

“Mark and Angela at the Anchor have been customers of ours for some time and we can’t wait to get started on this new venture with them.”

The Duck and Dive Real Ale Bar will be situated in what was originally the tap room at the Anchor and has recently served as an overspill dining area.

Mark Rawlins, landlord at The Anchor, said: “We’re proud of the reputation we’ve built for our food over the years and we see this as the next stage in our development of our business at the Anchor.”

“We’ve been looking to make best use of our small, separate bar for some time now and we’re very excited to be teaming up with the two Phils from Dukeries.”

“What you’ll get is a bar full of English real ale. We’re completely independent and free of any tie so that means that the beers we serve are simply the beers our customers want us to serve.”

“We also see cask ale as a great fit with our food business. What better than a plate of great food washed down by a great pint of great English beer.”
