Worksop: New Lincolnshire Co-op to open on Friday

A new Lincolnshire Co-op food store will open its doors in Worksop on Friday for the first time.

The £1.1m outlet is located on the site of the former Lord Byron pub off Plantation Hill in the Kilton area of the town.

Thirteen new jobs have been created at the 3,000 sqft convenience store which will be open from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week. It will stock a range of groceries, chilled and frozen goods as well as freshly baked bread from its in-store bakery.

Store development manager, Matthew Wilkinson, said: “We’re pleased to be offering our services to more people, especially as this is a new area for Lincolnshire Co-op.”

“We’re looking forward to welcoming customers from Worksop into our brand new store.”

An official opening ceremony for invited guests including coun Gwynneth Jones, vice chariman of Bassetlaw District Council, will be held on 13th February at 10am where three local groups will receive donations of £250 each.

Lincolnshire Co-op runs over 200 outlets including food stores, pharmacies, travel agencies, post offices and funeral homes, some of which are based in Retford.

The Co-op runs its own dividend card scheme. Shoppers in Worksop can sign up for free and benefit from dividend on their purchases, plus a bonus at the end of the year.
