Worksop: Norbridge Academy named as one of top performing schools in UK for Key Stage 2

Worksop’s Norbridge Academy received the boost when teachers and students received a letter from the schools minister to congratulate them.

Nick Gibb said the Stanley Street primary academy is in the top 100 UK schools in terms of progress their pupils make between Key Stage One and Key Stage Two.

He wrote to Norbridge to thank the school for its “work in continuing the drive towards high standards of educational achievement” in Worksop, recognising staff for their “hard work and professionalism”.

The results, which have been released in the Government’s school leagues tables for 2015, also reveal Norbridge is now the top performing primary school out of 2,000 schools in the East Midlands region for its Key Stage Two progress.

George Huthart, who has been headteacher at Norbridge for seven years, said he was “delighted” with the school’s achievement.

Mr Huthart said: “We are extremely pleased to have been named as one of the UK’s top schools.

“It is a reward for all of the hard work the children and adults put in at Norbridge Academy.

“Our belief system is to be the best you can be and everybody in school is committed to that belief.

“The children work hard, enjoy learning new things and have a fantastic attitude towards all aspects of school life.”

In the school’s most recent national Key Stage Two tests, 94 per cent of pupils achieved at least a level four in reading, numeracy and writing.

A further 97 per cent of children at Norbridge also attained at least expected progress in Key Stage Two last year.
