“This group meets each week in the belief that prayer for local issues related to crime can, and does, have a positive impact in the local community,” said Captain Ashley Dawson, of the Salvation Army.

Prayer subjects include the inspector and the local police team, the victims, the perpetrators, the underlying causes of crime and local policing issues.

Mr Diggles spoke about homelessness in Bassetlaw.

Captain Dawson extended an open invitation for anyone to join the community prayer group on Mondays at 3pm in The Salvation Army Church on Newcastle Avenue.
