Worksop: Residents concerns about speed changes on Farmers Branch supported by Bassetlaw MP John Mann

The speed limit on Farmers Branch,Worksop, has recently been reduced from a 40 mph limit to 30 mph but there are no signs warning drivers of the change.

John Mann MP received a letter from Notts Police saying while there are no signs on the road saying the speed limit has been reduced, there is a sign indicating the speed limit on the B6041 Blyth Road.

Mr Mann said:“People are telling me they have no problems with the speed limit being reduced but what they are concerned about is that there are no signs indicating the change and a speed camera is being used to catch people out.”

“It astounds me that there are no speed signs on Farmer Branch. A speed sign on a neighbouring road is simply not good enough.”

Ian Parker, Notts County Council’s district highways manager for Bassetlaw, said: “The speed limit along this road was changed some time ago. The signing is correct in that there are 30mph terminal signs on the main Blyth Road. We do not use 30mph repeaters on roads within 30mph limits as they are forbidden by the Department for Transport. Farmers Branch isn’t being treated any differently to any other road.”
