Worksop: Selfless PR woman donated services to cervical cancer campaign

Rachel Wood, who has founded her own PR company, Mule Marketing, was presented with the rose in a surprise ceremony in Worksop this week.

Caring Rachel was nominated by cancer survivor Victoria Cristofis who launched a campaign to get the cervical screening age lowered after being diagnosed with the disease in 2014.

Though many businesses in the town swooped in to help, Victoria said Rachel’s help has been “invaluable”- she has been busy creating leaflets and posters for the campaign along with a hard-hitting video for Victoria’s social media page.

Victoria said: “Rachel doesn’t just deserve a Guardian Rose, she deserves a gold medal.

“She has dedicated her time to me and my campaign which as took off in just over a year thanks to her.

“I believe the campaign has already saved so many lives, and without Rachel’s help I don’t think it would have got as far.

“She is one amazing lady. I am so happy to have the honour of recognising her with this award.”

Our Guardian Rose award continues to highlight some of the fantastic work being done in our communities.
