Sparken Hill Academy, previously Ryton Park Primary School, successfully became a standalone academy in November last year but decided to finish the academic year as ‘Ryton Park’ for the sake of its Year 6 pupils.

Now the school has completed its transformation by introducing new signage and brand new uniform.

The school has undergone significant change over the past few years. In 2007 Ryton Park received glowing praise from Ofsted with an outstanding grade in every single aspect.

Its headteacher, Mr Richard Lilley, was described by Her Majesties Inspectorate as ‘one of the most inspirational primary school leaders in the country.’

The following year, the school expanded to encompass the troubled New Manton Primary School which at the time was amongst the poorest performing primary schools in England based on Key Stage 2 outcomes.

Mr Lilley said: “This has been a long time in the planning and huge amount of work.

“I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank everyone who has enabled this to be achieved.

“We are over the moon with how all of our children have responded to wearing their new uniform.”

The school has gone from strength to strength since and moved into its new premises in September 2011.

It was judged to be one of the most improved schools in the country in 2012 and now boasts a state of the art new build with a huge array of technologies to assist the learning process.

Mr Lilley added: “The opportunity to gain foundation academy status means that we have far greater control over the curriculum as well as providing a huge array of wider opportunities to our pupils. We are all very proud.”

Head Boy Aiden Swann, age 11, said: “I feel really smart in our new uniform and it prepares us for secondary school”.

Head Girl Maddison Cottingham added: “I feel really lucky to be coming to the Academy. It really is a great place to go to school.”
