Worksop: Summer masked ball at Worksop College huge success

More than 300 pupils, parents and teachers from Worksop College and Ranby House danced the night away at a masked themed summer masquerade ball.

The event was organised by a commitee of parents from the college and the school - the first of its kind - and the funds from the evening were donated to local cancer charity Aurora.

Business and individuals from the surrounding areas donated prizes for an auction, which included a Mullberyy handbag being bought for £2500.

Gavin Horgan, headmaster at Worksop College, congratulated both parents associations of both schools for putting together such a fantastic event.

He said: “Mr Pritchard and I are both tremendously grateful that parents from both schools have worked together to put on what was an absolute stunning event and we would like to echo their thanks to local businesses, without whom it would not have been possible.”

He added: “Mr Pritchard and I are already looking forward to future events - the bar has been set and we will all be waiting with baited breath to see what the team proposes next.”

Juliet Harrison, Chair of the Worksop College Parents’ Association said: “We are all absolutely delighted that the hard work of the Ball committee over the past few months has paid off and that everyone enjoyed what was, a brilliant night. “

“We are re still collecting in the money we raised - I would especially like to thank all of the amazing businesses that donated items for the auction and raffle prizes, their generosity is phenomonal.”

The money raised will go towards helping Aurora provide support for local people and families who have been diagnosed with cancer and are part of the cancer survivors programme.

Peter Bradley, of Auora, said: “we are very proud to have been chosen by the college and Ranby school for such a prestigious event and we recognise the tremendous impact it will have on our profile in the Bassetlaw area and beyond.”

“These two schools are so well known and respected for their standards of excellence our association can only be good for the charity.”
