Worksop: Terminally ill Dad to fulfil dying wish of marrying woman he loves

David Landau, of King Street, was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer this month and has been told by doctors he has just 18 months to live.

The 30-year-old originally planned to wed his fiancée, Nicole Scott, with whom he has a one-year-old daughter, Lucy, in 2018.

With money being tight as neither David or Nicole have been able to work, the pair were worried they would be unable to save enough money for their wedding after being forced to move the date forward.

But, with the help of charity Gift of a Wedding, along with donations from the kind-hearted Worksop community, their dream ceremony is now all set to take place in September.

David’s sister, Susan Stokes, set up a Just Giving page which raised £1,000 in donations and said she was “delighted” to announce her brother had also been chosen for Gift of a Wedding funding.

She said: “We were devastated when David was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2014, just as he received the news Nicole was pregnant with their daughter.

“When Lucy was four weeks old, David underwent an operation to have his bowel removed and was later given the all clear from doctors.

“But unfortunately, at the beginning of July, we were given the shocking news the cancer had returned and was terminal.

“David’s one last wish is to be married to the woman he loves and I am so happy this is happening for them.”
